The ability to start a fire is a big plus when camping or over-nighting off in the woods or back-country. More importantly if you don't have a lighter or matches then the fire idea goes "up in smoke' - sorry for the pun.
Fortunately, Gerber offers a nifty compact fire starting device that comes in hand when your out of the traditional fire starting mechanisms. The device uses a metal rod and flint which creates a spark when rubbed together to help get your fire started. While this product is more in-line with camping, it does serve a purpose to keep on hand in your vehicle. If your an active outdoors enthusiast and regularly travel away from home, this product can act both as a "back-up" for camping needs and a safety mechanism to keep in the glove box. The Gerber fire starter has an emergency whistle attached to it along with SOS instructions should you find yourself in need of help. |

The excitement of a road trip can sometimes overwhelm ones decision making when it comes to the all important issue of "what to pack". Pack too much and you run the risk of running out of room in your vehicle to fit everything, not to mention make the vehicle feel cramped and uncomfortable. On the other hand, packing to little runs the risk of missing out on that all important item, such as your bathing suite when it comes to that impromptu stop at a beautiful lake on a warm summer day.
Compression bags (such as the above) offer a great cargo solution when faced with that packing dilemma of "more or less" luggage. The benefit offered by the compression bags is that clothing space can be dramatically reduced once you expel the excess air from its pouch.
An Auto Spa Canada staffer once used a similar product when completing a cross-Canada road trip. The staffer placed none essential clothes in the compression bags which freed up luggage space for his daily wardrobe.
There's nothing worse then having a closet filled to the brim with useless carry-bags. More so, ones that never seem to quite match your intended use, but hold-on, there maybe an answer for you.
The OGIO Renegade backpack was recently used by an Auto Spa Canada staffer this past summer and received an outstanding two thumbs up! The staffer used the bag for a range of activities, including: cottage night-over, gym and air travel carry-on bag. A key benefit of the OGIO Renegade described by the staffer were its numerous pockets, allowing him to store essential electronic gear (e.g. 15'' laptops, tablets, headphones), travel papers and the all important sun-glass holder.
If you've ever got tired of having to setup a tent and fiddle with its various poles, your in luck! The Coleman pop-up tent has been used multiple times by an Auto Spa Canada staffer for some great car-camping road trips.
It's as easy as pulling the tent out of the storage case, finding a suitable (preferably flat w/ minimal roots) location and letting the tent pop-out. (It does take a few practices at folding the tent back into the storage case, so it's best to try this at home before heading out of your first pop-up adventure. )
Traveling in your vehicle on lengthy trips can create opportunities for the passengers to rest their eyes, relax and nap.
If your pressed for vehicle space, typically a normal pillow is too cumbersome to keep on hand.
There are a variety of products one would use to detail/clean their vehicle, including: rim cleaner, tire shine, window cleaner, leather cleaner, etc. The list of car detailing products can be lengthy, especially how in-depth one would like their vehicle to look. Having said this, the one tool that all of the above products have in common is the use of microfiber cloths to complete their respected cleaning outcomes.
If your a Dog lover, changes are you've run into the issue of either dirty paws and/or a dirty dog, namely caused by mud. This issue is sometimes a result of traveling by car to a local dog park or open space to offer up some well deserved play time. The end result, the area where your dog is placed while in transit ends up becoming dirty and even smelly. The adjacent picture is a dog specific waterproof hammock that you can easily place in the backseat of your vehicle. This nifty product can help contain any dirt your pet tracks into your vehicle. The waterproof aspects of the product make for easier to clean-up once you remove it from your vehicle. An additional benefit to the dog hammock is that it partial obstructs the opening between the two front seats and can reduce the possibility of your pet from leaping into the front area of your vehicle while in transit.
If you've applied some paint protection i.e. wax, sealant during the summer months to your vehicle, there are some products you can use to help build and extend that paint protection.
The adjacent picture of the Mother's California Gold Instant Detailer is one of those products that can be easily applied to the paint of your vehicle after it has been washed. Typically, application is done in sections i.e. quarter panel and wipe on with a clean microfiber. Working your way around the vehicle and using a clean and dry portion of the microfiber it should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Ideally you can apply a quick detailer product (such as the Mother's Instant Detailer) once a month. Each application enhances the current paint protection barrier between the paint and elements,, in turn helping extend overall longevity. |
